Combate Americas’ one-night, eight-man Copa Combate bantamweight tournament took place tonight, and Levy Saul Marroquin took home the $100,000 grand prize.
The event, which took place at the Grand Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Mexico, aired on NBCSN following prelims on NBCSports.com.
Marroquin won Copa Combate, created as a throwback to UFC 1, after originally being listed as an alternate.
Marroquin was added to the tournament when one fighter didn’t make weight. He went on to win three fights in one night, which included a unanimous-decision victory over John Castaneda in the final.
